On 18 December, Vice President Wang Jianguo of Zhejiang University of Technology (ZJUT) and the delegation visited Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), exchanging experience and exploring cooperation on the innovation of Sino-foreign cooperative education models, disciplinary development and talent cultivation. Professor Li Xiaonian, President of WKU, attended the event, and Yang Yixin, Vice President for Academic Affairs, accompanied the research and presided over the discussions.
Yang Yixin extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Wang Jianguo. He gave a detailed introduction to the development history, international characteristics, and high-quality development achievements of WKU in recent years. He noted that ZJUT is a benchmark among key universities administered by Zhejiang Province, with remarkable accomplishments in high-level discipline construction, industry-university-research integration, and international talent cultivation. The two universities share similar philosophies and common goals in developing Sino-foreign cooperative education mechanisms, building competitive international disciplines, and stimulating innovation among teachers and students. He expressed the hope that this research visit would serve as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges between the two universities, expand areas of cooperation, diversify cooperation forms, and achieve genuine resource sharing and common development.
Wang Jianguo introduced the overall development of ZJUT, including its history, academic disciplines, commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and international cooperation in education. He highlighted the university’s recent breakthroughs and practical experience in winning national-level research awards and establishing approved Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions. He stated that, as a high-level Sino-foreign cooperative university, WKU features a clear educational positioning, a sound international education system, distinctive strengths and outstanding results, providing valuable experience for other universities in Zhejiang engaged in Sino-foreign cooperation. The purpose of this visit was to learn from WKU advanced practices, further optimize the layout of Sino-foreign cooperative education at Zhejiang University of Technology, develop distinctive majors, disciplines and faculty teams, and build a more influential brand for international cooperative education.
He believed that the two universities enjoy broad cooperation space and promising prospects. Taking this exchange as a new starting point, he hoped the two sides would establish a regular communication mechanism, enhance coordination and cooperation in various fields, jointly elevate the quality of education to a new level, and make greater contributions to the internationalization of higher education in Zhejiang Province.
Prior to the discussions, Vice President Wang Jianguo and the delegation visited WKU’s University History Museum and Student Learning and Activity Centre, gaining an in-depth understanding of the university’s educational philosophy, campus culture and practical experience in talent cultivation. representatives from ZUTE accompanied the research visit.
